Panels

This one just sucked me right in, I think it's the spring fever that set in.

This one I just had to buy for my daughter. My plan is to cut it apart, add the wonderful coordinating fabric that goes with it and and give it to her for her 21st birthday.
Normally I'm not much of a panel person when it comes to quilts, I guess I had a weak moment or perhaps two.

Quilt on a Stick

Our Country Quilters guild quilt show is coming up in May and they always have a challenge. This years challenge was quilt on a stick and this is my contribution.

Coffee anyone?

This is a quick little wall hanging that I made to hang in our business.

I used this funky stuff called Chenille-It Blooming Bias.

This is what it looked like before the chenille was fuzzed up.

Below is a close up picture after it was chenilled.

Lastly, I would like to thank Sophie Mae, whose always there for moral support when I need it. She decided to make herself comfy next to my sewing machine.

Finally something to show

I finally finished this wall hanging. It began back in 2007 with our small 30's group. We each put our own fabric of choice in a bag and each person in our group got our bag and could make a 6 inch block of their choice. I got eight blocks back then I made one also so I could have 9 blocks. I decided to hand quilt it keeping with the 30's theme, they didn't machine quilt back then so I didn't either.

Five days of favs- day 5

I limited myself to five of my favorites for today. The first is a book I picked up at Joann's using a 50% off coupon. It's is a really fun book with 27 different techniques and a artist gallery in the back. Next is my silk thread, I bought for hand applique and it just melts into the fabric. I have since found it also works great for crazy quilting for attaching motifs and many other embellishments. Third is the little bitty 1/2 inch pins, they are so small the threads don't keep getting caught and hung up all the time. Next is the straw needles, I like size 9 and 11. And then there is Fray Check that needs no explanation. I used to use that on my panty hose, back in the day. And lastly, for those of you that are counting, I guess I can't count because this in number 6, anyway I just found this DMC floss at Joann's. It is rayon and has a wonderful sheen to it.

Five days of favs - day four

Now with my battery charged I can post a picture of my five favorite books for crazy quilting.

How crazy is this?

I had to charge the battery on my camera and this is what I saw when I opened the drawer. About a month ago we went through all the chargers and actually threw out a bunch of them that we no longer need and this is what is left.

Five days of favs - day three

These are two of my favorite things when I am sitting and stitching. Number one, my Ott light, I could not stitch without it.

This little number is just a fun funky thing I found at a second hand store. I was with my sister and whenI stopped to get a second look at it, she said "Buy it" so I did. It sat on a shelf for a year and I hadn't used it yet so I decided it had no sentimental value so I either needed to use it or get rid of it. I set it on my counter and it started to accumulate things then suddenly it took on a life of its own. Now it sits next to me when I'm stitching and holds all my essentials.

Five Days of Favs - Day Two

Today I'm sharing two of my favorite tools. One is a compass & protractor combo with circle stencils. I found it at my local office supply store. I other one is a bunch of plastic circles that range from 1/4 inch to 2 inches that I picked up at a quilt shop. I use them both for hand applique, wool projects and crazy quilting.

Some of my favorite things

I'm trying to get a hand quilted wall hanging finished. Since I won't have a lot of finished projects to post this week I thought I would post some of my favorite things. I will start off first with my new favorite magazine. I am a little obsessed with bags and pincushions so it's no surprise I was attracted to this magazine.

I picked this up at my local quilt shop, but have since seen it at JoAnn Fabric and a local grocery store. It has some really fun projects inside along with full size patterns.

The Great Pumpkin

This is a pumpkin that will be making its rounds to four other people in a round robin group on crazy quilt international yahoo group I'm in. I know it doesn't look like much now, but when I get it back it will be embellished and will look fantastic.
